Teddy Bear Express – Donate Bears for The Christmas Parade

Teddy Bear Express – Donate Bears for The Christmas Parade

CCF Teddy Bear

The Teddy Bear Express

Back in 2011, Glen Rose resident Eva Hanke began collecting bears. That Christmas, nearly 300 bears were passed out by Santa Claus at the Christmas parade.

Every year since, there has been a “teddy bear float,” (the Santa Claus float,) and hundreds of bears have been passed out to children at the parade–earning Eva the fond nickname, “The Teddy Bear Lady.”

Teddy Bear Express Finds a New Home

Last year after the parade, Eva Hanke passed the teddy bear baton to Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church, and we have taken up the cause. Something as easy as giving a child a stuffed animal is one of the simplest things we can do to show love to them.

Though the project first began as a teddy bear collection, over the years Eva expanded the collection to all sorts of stuffed animals, and we will continue to do the same. Any stuffed animal, new or gently used, can be donated for the Teddy Bear Express. Since we are a non-profit organization, donated teddy bears could be tax-deductible, too.

How Can You Donate Bears?

The church is open every Sunday from 8am-12:30pm. There will also be several collection dates between now and Christmas. To keep informed of collection dates and teddy bear updates, follow our page on Facebook. You can also message us there, or send us questions through our contact form here on the website.

Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes

Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes

Bring Your Boxes By the 17th

We are collecting Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes again this year! Bring your boxes, packed, labeled, with a check for $7.00 shipping inside, by October 17th. Or, you can pay the $7.00 online, and get a tracking receipt to see where your box is delivered! You’ll print a page to put with your shoebox instead of a check.

We will take all the packed boxes to the nearest drop off location (at Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury,) so that you don’t have to spend the gas to deliver it or the extra shipping to mail it in.

We will be at church Sundays from 9:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m. and some Wednesdays from 6:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. You can call ahead to make sure the church will be open, or set a time to meet up. We will also be at the church Thursday the 17th from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

What to put in the boxes:

From the Samaritan’s Purse website:

  • TOYS: Include items that children will immediately embrace such as dolls, toy cars, stuffed animals, kazoos, harmonicas, yo-yos, jump ropes, balls, toys that light up and make noise (with extra batteries), etc.
  • SCHOOL SUPPLIES: pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons, markers, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.
  • NON-LIQUID HYGIENE ITEMS: toothbrushes, bar soap, combs, washcloths, etc.
  • ACCESSORIES: t-shirts, socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries), etc.
  • A PERSONAL NOTE: You may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. If you include your name and address, the child may be able to write back.
  • DO NOT INCLUDE: Used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives or military figures; chocolate or food; out-of-date candy; liquids or lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.

Don’t forget to include your label and shipping. Get labels and more information here:

Tell Your Friends and Family

You don’t have to be a Cornerstone member to bring us a box. We are not an official drop off location but we will be happy to deliver boxes for anyone in the community to save your gas or mailing costs. Bring as many as you want! We are happy to serve.
